Here are the guidelines:
First nothing here is written in stone. I am open to advice and
suggestions if a majority of you would prefer to do some things
differently.
Second, each pair of opponents are to contact each other and agree to
fight a mirror-match battle of their choosing. I would prefer that
it be no more than around 25-30 turns but I won't be giving anyone
grief as long as the turn length doesn't exceed that ball park figure
by too much. Options will be up to the combatants but both must be
in complete agreement as to how their battle is fought. Any varient
of a BG or HPS scenario is fair game, including those "blind" or
other custom scenarios if you prefer - it really doesn't matter since
it is a mirror-match. It is assumed that all ACWGC rules will apply
unless an agreement among the combatants exists to the contrary.
Finally please don't forget to register your scenario with the club
to earn your points - I won't be doing that.
Third, as in Round One, only the "First side" counts for victory
considerations. In case of a tie in victory category, victory points
will be the tie breaker.
Fourth, I want to set an absolute quarterfinal completion date of no
latter than May 15 (no exceptions here - I've learned my lesson).
Any battles not completed by that date will be ruled upon by Brig Gen
Cross and myself and we'll try and be as fair as possible. That comes
out to about a turn every other day for a 25 turn mirror-match which I
think is reasonable
Fifth, the team score stands at 3-2 in favor of the AOJ. These
quarterfinal matches account for the 8 remaining team points to
decide which army is victorious. The semifinals and finals are to
crown the tournament champion only and will not count towards the
team competition.
Sixth, as to the spoils (aside from bragging rights), I had gained
initial approval on the Union side awhile back for a tournament
ribbon to be awarded for all participants who at least honorably
completed round one. I will go through Brig Gen Cross to gain
approval on the Rebel side. The losing team earns the ribbon while
the winning team earns the same ribbon along with the 'V'
attachment. Also it was agreed by both sides that the tournament
champion should earn a medal and some club points. Again I will work
with Brig Gen Cross to get this approved by both sides but I don't
expect that there should be any problems.
Please contact your opponent and one of you please reply back to me
when your field of battle is determined (passing along the name of
the scenario and turn length).
Best of luck to you all Gentlemen!
