In the defense of Vicksburg on the 22nd of May, the Union had to give up the fight due to the appalling losses our valliant boys inflicted upon him. There was little glory in the fight for us as our defenses were almost impregnable and 'Butcher Grant' once again earned his nickname sacrificing thousands of his innocent men for his insane plans. |
