I've always enjoyed a good novel, especially one related to the Civil War.
Unfortunately, the bar was set pretty high for me, as my first exposure to Civil War fiction was Michael Sharra's The Killer Angels.
Since then, (high school) I've read Mr. Foote's Shiloh and tried on different occasions to read Jeff Sharra, but they just seem to lack the "personalization" that Michael Sharra gives a good story.
I've even went so far as to read Gingrich and Forstchen's alternative history. We could debate the content but I do admire the writing style. Any suggestions on novels that you recommend?

I liked the John Jakes North and South books. But, just like with the miniseries back in the 80s, only the first two were good. I tried reading the third but put it down pretty quickly. Sometimes authors just don't know when to stop. Like Rocky after Rocky IV.

I didn't realize that was a written series. With a lack of anything else to read, I might as well check it out.
