Hey Everyone,

This is to let the members know that there are several upcoming elections for the Union and the CSA. Derald Riggs and myself worked out a plan with the Cabinet to hold the overdue elections. The positions that need an election are:

USA Cabinet Secretary - Both Spots
CSA Cabinet Secretary - Both Spots
CSA Chief of the Armies (CoA) - my current position

Elections for Club President will be held later.

It will be a little different than normal, as Derald and myself will work together to oversee the elections on the other side, with Ernie and the other Cabinet member's help. So we'll be making the announcement posts at the various stages of each election. Also to make the process go as smoothly & quickly as possible it was agreed to retain any outgoing Cabinet officer until elections on the other side are completed, as long as there are no issues with the outgoing officer.

So there will be a number of elections coming, keep an eye out for the announcements, all who might want to run and are eligible are encouraged to do so & please participate in any vote that your side of the Club might have!

With the elections coming at such a late date from where they should have been held, will the new Cabinet members become retroactively installed to the original date? I have always felt that the current, staggered election date cycles allowed the Cabinet to carry onward with a minimum of interruption and a fair degree of continuity. A retroactive installation may be viewed as unfair to an individual's full, 2-year term, but such a policy would also prevent the Cabinet's burden in conducting so many elections in so short a period of time, as is now apparently being done.

General David Danner is elected by acclamation, we'll start the process for General Mark Nelms' USA Cabinet Secretary spot. Mark has served two terms already so he is unable to run this time, so it will be an open election for his spot and will need folks to run for it.

(Still haven't forgotten your question Joe!)

I have wondered about staggering elections in some manner.

Something like A secretary position in January, another in March; Another in May etc. another in July of same year, with COA's and president in the FOLLOWING year. Or variations of this. To get this going, of course, would be a rules change, allowing some flexibility with elections and terms. Once we start this, some terms would be less and others more until we finish a full cycle.

It all needs to be fleshed out some more, but the gist of Joe's suggestion can be covered, with some more BRAIN work. :D

Funny, just working on a proposal for a rule change regarding the election of cabinet positions that is almost like General Sands pointed out.
Thought I put it up after the elections are done, especially to consider when a certain position's term started.
