WARNING ORDER – 2019 CLUB TOURNAMENT

Read below for more information or view the PDF here: Meeting at Dawn (MAD) Warning Order 1

Officers and Gentlemen the American Civil War Gaming Club and Cannonball Productions are pleased to announce a new club tournament for the 1863 (2019) campaigning season.

Meeting at Dawn

Briefing:

Two of the issues we face when playing historical battles are: they are not always strength balanced and officers will always have the ability to know where his/her opponent’s units are. To help mitigate these two issues and to add more mystery this tournament only uses meeting engagements, all of which are customised. The first time the players will see the battle is when it is sent through to the first player by the Tournament Directors.

The tournament will only use JTS Gettysburg – latest version.

The battles will range from Corps to Division size and will be matched as follows:

• The same number and types of troops, with the same morale ratings
• The same number and types of Artillery
• The same amount of supply and artillery rounds

Tournament System:

• Players will fight one battle per round and the winner of each battle will go through to the next round and so on.
• Players will sign up at the MDT, on a first come first served basis – based on the posting time stamp
• The tournament will be restricted to a maximum of 64 officers – it could be expanded to 128 officers if there is enough interest.

Opponent Selection:

Opponent selection will be random. So, it is very likely that officers may end up playing officers from their own side of the club.

Winning a Round:

The winner will be the player who achieves a Major or Minor Victory. In the event of a Draw then the player with the most points closest to victory will be the winner. Should there still be a tie then a short 8-10 turn sudden death battle will be played.

Tournament Ribbon:

The yet to be formally approved tournament ribbon is shown below.

A franchised bordello (London and Vicksburg)? Interesting business model...
