I must be getting really senile. I had been playing a game against Greg Davis (Longstreet's Boot) and another against the one and only Ned Simms but I can't get past my password on either game. The one Ned sent I didn't even get a chance to open the first turn due to the error. In the game with Greg Davis, I had played two turns before the issue arose. I'm playing Atlanta and testing another game with no issues at all. I put the scenario files in the scenario folders and I'm running version 3.0. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated!

The obvious issue is the password. Did you use upper case and are trying lower case?

Was the game progressing along and THEN the problem? Are you playing in the same series in both game, such as Gettysburg?

The game vs Ned is strange as you never had the chance to set a password.

Well error before even opening the first turn might point to incompatibility due to different versions so that has to be checked.
I think in the past there was often the advise of deleting the pbemail.xxx & pbemail.yyy files, maybe that helps.

Sir!

I had another player with the same problem. He put the scenario file and the game file in his scenario folder and kept opening the scenario file rather than the game file. Is this what was happening perhaps?

I don't know what the answer was, but he resolved it and we are playing. He did say that he had not received a password for our MAD R1 tournament game and also asked that I send the file zipped, which I had not done the first turn.

That can indeed help if files get mauled if normally attached to a mail, If that zip would get damaged you couldn't even unpack it and would now that the problem is the transport and not your system.

We've been playing along just fine, and now he's getting a cpg error. We had stopped zipping the file and it played well but he gets the cpg error using either the bte or zipped file, so I don't think that the problem is with the zip. He deleted everything out of his saved folder to include the xxx and yyy files and loaded the bte and zipped files again and gets the same error. Any suggestions before I recommend that he forward the problem to Rich!
