Gents, I think we can all agree that JTS produces one of the most strategic and tactically realistic turn-based games out there.
I was wondering what everyone considers the most "realistic" real-time game out there today?

I guess only in the topic of the CW?
The only real "realistic" real-time game I know that comes close to the CW era is HistWar:

I've never heard of this one. Any mods that convert it to ACW?

Jason/Christian,

Don't forget about the game in development.....War of Rights

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4240 ... of_Rights/

Gen Ken Whitehead bought it and did some post and video. I think that seems to be the most realistic one I've seen.

@Campbell
Not that I'm aware, this is a rather slow developing game that is done by a single person with graphics and I think some other stuff too done by others, but overall a one man show.

@Hampel
Oh yes, although it nitpicking you could say that the limitation to a max of 150 players isn't really giving you the sense of being in a big battle with 100k+ in each side.

Yeah. Those WOR players are a different breed. Having not a clue of what I was doing, I downloaded the game and thought I would check it out. I didnt even have a headset to talk back and forth between players!
Well, I figured out how to load my rifle and fire and so I took off on a charge with some Union players towards a woods. I got into the woods and was just going to watch and see what happens. I couldnt see any of my unit anywhere. Im scrolling around and suddenly the screen goes red (youve been mortally wounded) and, although I cant say a thing, I can hear the talking going on between players. I hear, "Shhhhhh. Shhhhhhh. It's ok. It's ok."
I watch the replay and, here, a Reb had snuck up on me, and bayoneted me! I get it...but..."Shhhhhh. Its ok"?????????? Kind of freaked me out. Not gonna lie.

Wow! You totally took the plunge and volunteered for the Union cause. :)

The "Sssshhhhhh, it's OK" reference is the knife/fight seen from Private Ryan". Pretty dramatic seen and shocking.

What did you think of the game and graphics? Is it worth the $29.00 price?

General Hampel, in my opinion, for $30 you cant go wrong. The last time we had a first person shoot em up was way back when it was just Playstation!
The graphics are decent but the problem I have with it is that there is no real stand alone play. You have to join a regiment and the one I was considering joining, they drilled twice a week (marching, left face, shoulder arms, right shoulder shift, yeah...the whole 9 yards). It took some serious commitment to play effectively in my opinion.
However, it is really cool getting a first person perspective on a battle. Your first volley fire is cool too. :D

Scourge of War in my opinion was one of the most realistic to date. However, you sort of lack on the graphics.

Not real time, but I've benn quite impressed with a game Kennon pushed several years back - Brother Against Brother - The Drawing of the Sword. Unfortunately, it never sold well for various reaons, mostly, I presume, because of the battles covered. Hence, developers never followed through with plans to expand the game to include the larger battles that followed. There were other complaints, such as the lack of a tutorial, but I did not find it all that difficult to pick up. It's now unsupported... shame.

I own that one too, Mike. I think I've maybe spent 10 minutes on it. Like you said, lack of a tutorial for me was a disappointment.
