Ah. The good old reserve artillery. Yes sir, indeed. If you've seen one...you've seen 'em all...although the Whitworth bolts do sound so much more pleasant. So my thumbing of my nose and my cursing at the batteries on the hill was in vain????? :D :D :D

I would say so. Of course, we won't know for sure for another 8 turns or so. ;)

Not at all. I think he is designated "Colonel" in the game, because that was his rank when the battle began. He has since been promoted, due to valor and other cool things. :)

Oh my, Col. Campbell's venture across the river was quite a short one and their departure has been quite prompt. Now I understand why he signs off as Col. Jason "Skedaddle" Campbell.

Well, look who's developed a sense of humor...even if it is only a "sense".
We were headed back across the bridge anyways. Your artillery reserve didn't have to be so rude!
The only good thing about going across the bridge twice was...I did a raspberry in your direction, General, as we casually sauntered back across.
Took out another one of your guns for their trouble, too. 8)

Greetings!

It is, I, Col. Jason "Skedaddle" Campbell here to make an update on the battle thus far, as we near it's conclusion:

The grey ranks continue to dissolve under the might of the Union hammer, wielded by The Michigan Lion, Major General Derek Hampel!
The battle lines are shown on the attached map.

The Union boot heel is about to stomp a hole in the grey 'Sucesh!

Indeed, I have put a price on Swanson's head, dead or alive: $138.65.
I threw in another 7 cents just to make it worth someone's while...and we're not too picky how he ends up either. Honestly, I prefer "alive" due to the fact that I would LOVE to show him his new accommodations on scenic Johnson Island. I even finagled a deal for a room for you overlooking Cedar Point, suh. 8)

Also, being as that we are true gentlemen in the North, if you would care to dispatch a few wagons to Richmond to obtain the pikes ordered by Jackson, which now sit in a warehouse rusting, by all means, be our guest.
We figured these might come in handy for you over the remaining turns because...well...you know why.

Here are the map details, my friends:

As you can see, the gallant boys in blue have pushed them into a nice grey mass...and, as if the hand writing on the wall wasn't enough, the buzzards are already gathering.

*chuckles at Colonel Campbell's latest "update" on the battle*

Apparently you've been getting your information about this battle by reading "Harper's Weekly" again.

As usual, journalist graphics slant facts. The "artistry" (if it can be called that) you presented makes it appear the Confederate forces are in total disarray. Looking at the actual situation, the Confederate line more closely resembles the Union "fishhook" at Gettysburg, with some regiments far behind the line but the bulk of the forces up front - and we all know how that one turned out. :)

Of course, you can be excused for not knowing the actual disposition of enemy forces, since your cavalry has been entirely wiped out. :D

Sir! My nobel 3D rendering of the Union forces I thought was superb! The buzzard happened by on his own.
Truth be told, we are just one gun away from wiping out 2 whole batteries of your artillery, no...and you know that blue thunder us gonna pound away these last turns. 8)

I commend your artillery on the excellent shooting. If not for the loss of those guns, the Rebel side would still be close to a Major Victory.

And your cavalry unit sacrificing itself early on to capture one of our supply wagons turned out to be a brilliant move. We should have guarded those wagons better.

All role playing and kidding aside, it's been one heck of a fight.
I can't wait to see the actual AAR...without all the "nonsense". :D

The battle was riveting even though I saw most of it from a field hospital. Nothing like seeing four divisions of Rebs coming for me as I am trying to get the artillery up a hillside.

I did not scream (too loud). Where is that bourbon ...
