My Penisula game is acting up. There is no hex color-its all black, The units only show up as colored squares. Is my game kaput?

It sounds like there you and your opponent are possible using different versions of the program. That's what usually causes something like that.

Try deleting the PBEMAIL.XXX and .YYY files.

Peninsula is at V1.02, since Feb 2006, so it is likely you are both on the same version, but it should be checked out to be sure.

Are you having problems with anyother HPS title?

Thank your for your suggestions as I have had those woes in the past but this is different. The hexes are black but there are units present. They just appear as colored squares. If you click on one the unit information will appear at the bottom just like it should, I have been playing these opponents for some time so the version is not a problem, I have deleted the XXX files. All quite odd and vexing. My other HPS games are working(thank goodness!!)

I don't know how everything exactly ties together, but it seems that somewhere in the mix you have a corrupted file or files.

Perhaps it would be best to UNINSTALL the game, reboot and reinstall the game and the latest patch.

AFAIK, once you do that, things should be back to normal. Make sure you backup or save in a different folder any other current games you have going. Also, delete the entire game folder structure, which you might not be able to do until after a reboot.

This is probably the quickest and cleanest solution, than trying to piece together what the basic problem is.

Making progress!!! I reloaded the game and got my maps back. A good thing, Now I am getting the error doing replay message which of course usually indicates version differences but I thought Penisula was only one verion? Is there a download?

Thanks again guys,[:D]

Tony,

Penninsula has version 1.02 at the HPS site, apparently your opponent has updated.
