I tested with the new Matrix release a couple of the add-on's I made some years ago for the TS version; one uses BGBR engne and the other BGC engine. Well, both of them work perfectly with the new release.

Then I made a further test: I continued with the new Matrix release a Napoleonic PBEM battle started with the old TS version, and it works smoothly, no porblem at all.

So it seems that there's a full compatibility among the old and the new version of the games.

Well I took Dale up on his suggestion and sent him a game file from BGS Prairie Grove. He got and made his move and I had no problems extracting his file into mine. It opened and played just fine.

Seems to me this is actually a pretty cheap way to preserve the old BattleGround games. At about $10 bucks a shot ($50 total) you can have the complete set which is ready to go, no upgrades needed. I have been pricing the BG games on Ebay for the past couple of years and they go for a lot more than $10 bucks.

And to think I got all of mine for 4.99 except for the BGG/BGS dual cd set which I paid 6.99 for. This was at what used to be electronics boutique. I think they call themselves Gamestop now. Prices have gone up a tad hehehehehe. Still, no upgrade necessary and they're all together. You gotta like that. :-)

I was looking up the link to the Matrix Games site and discovered that there is now a patch for the ACW BattleGround Series from Matrix: http://www.matrixgames.com/news/news.as ... 19&nid=478
