I am not sure if any you guys have had a similar experience as me, but a couple of nights ago my wife informed me that the American Civil War had been over for many years, that I had to get over it and I was to stop having loaded black powder guns on the computer desk. Can you believe that someone can be so naive to think that the war has ended? I just said in a very loud commanding voice (well to be honest it was rather quietly) that she had no idea what she was talk about.

I managed to cut myself (only slightly) on my own rapier the other day in a similar episode when my wife sought to find out why I didn't come to the dinner table after she had suddenly called and interrupted a playback. Startled by her insensitivity to the trememndous events unfolding there upon the battlefield in front of me, I turned, drawing my sword by instinct.

These women have no concept of what is happening, nor what has transpired in this war. It begs description!

unbelieveable..........what is wrong with these women.

I had a similar experience two night ago. My wife summoned me from my headquarters while I was in the middle issuing orders to several brigades. I proceeded to trip over my spurs and gash myself with one of them.

what is wrong with these women.

I have since been delicately reminded (by pm) of certain other charms of the fair sex. Still, other than that, too, there'd be a bounty, I say!

I must have a real smart cookie for a wife. She is constantly asking me "Isn't there a Civil War going on that you need to get back to?" and so I obediently dress and come back to my headquarters tent.

Now that is a woman to campaign with General Simms!

A salute to her. <salute>

To you, (you have had a choice in the matter despite that Daddy's shotgun prodding you in the back). <salute>

And all the other men of the ACWGC that have found a foe more pernicious and resilient than Lee did with Grant! <salute>

To those others, well I salute you for your smarts! <salute>

My wife has used the same approach as Ned's. Either she respects the history of the era or it is a ploy to get rid of me so she can watch television in the living room.

We went to Antietam on our honeymoon, Gettysburg on our 25th, and Chickamauga just a few years ago, when she finally had to ask:
"Honey--howcome so many civil war battles were fought in national parks???"
