"Hi guys,
I'd like to mix it up in a MP game for 1812, two to three per side, whatever scenario and whatever options we can agree on.

This will have to be a PBEM MP game as my unstable satellite connection will only make an online game an exercise in frustration. 21/09/01

Rob,

You guys ought to try it on-line, it's great! The whole team can move at the same time. Check the Training Center for instructions on how to set it up.

I'd join you, but my schedule doesn't permit at this time.

Thanks Rich and Sean. I have changed the topic heading to show that the Brits are ready and waiting. Hopefully the Yanks will find some intestinal fortitude and come up with a couple of Defenders of the Constitutions.

Rich, I will be sure to read up on the Online gaming. It's always the best though I haven't tried it with BG or this series yet. Right now, it would be difficult for me to maintain a game online.

Sounds good, would you consider trying a small scenario online?

OK guys, we're on. I'd love to try an online scenario but I'm telling you, my online connection is sketchy from moment to moment and I think it would just be very frustrating. Also, the weather is due to get worse and that doesn't help a ship's satellite receiver any! When I get home, we could (all) try it then.

OK, so now we need a scenario and some rules. A fair size scenario to divide the forces. I think 'Montreal' might be good. 48 turns, plus the Americans get two divisions (one each?). I'm not sure what the Brits get as I haven't played the scenario. Open to suggestions.

Rules:
I propose "Rout Limiting Off" as a realistic option. And you can forget about the "Rifle Effects" ;) Anyone else?

Rob,

Montreal is fine, don't know a thing about it. PBEM is a good way to play, too

I like the following to be ON :
Quality Fire Modifiers
Victory Points for Leader Casualties
Quality Melee Modifiers
Isolation Rules
Partial Retreats
Automated Defensive Fire
Flank Morale Modifier
Line Movement Disruption
Weak Zone-Of-Control

Rich, in testing Eckmuhl Campaign we found that online MP games where all players moved at once led to latency nightmares. Did you experience any drops while BOTH players moved at the same time?
All players in my game had a high speed connection.
Still hoping to play this way but find that the players on the other side find it hard to follow all of the action. I like it as that way they cant see ALL of the board at once (talking about big maps here) and therefore it is more historical.
Let me know if you can do some online games in 1809 so that we can test this out. I would like to try out the 1812 engine as well so that I can see if it is perhaps my connection that was the culprit!
