Just a note - if you use the new engine with older 1776 games you will still use the multi-phasing turn structure and NOT the newer single phase sequencing. Not sure that everyone understood this. So there is no need to have two installations of the game on your drive. I opened up a game file I have with James Poli and found out that we are still using the mutliple phasing options.
