While traveling in upstate New York, I managed to take a side trip to Sacketts Harbor and tour the battleground. The area is still very close to the rural nature of 1813, and plenty of area to stomp around and retrace the British landing and assault. The grounds around the old fort are well kept with reenactors to boot. Had the British landed or better deployed field pieces, they would have carried the Town, but the fleet stayed well offshore, and who forgot the field pieces? A lack of charts?

I have played the scenario a few times and it looks very accurate, with some well balanced elevation changes to mimick the blockhouse/fortifications the Americans had. The harbor is a bit too generous in the game, no room to manuver a ship in as I have to shell the American rear [:D].(tourney Play)

Having seen a few sites now (Saratoga, Plattsburgh Bennington, Hubbardton, Ticonderoga) I am astonished at how well our games have mapped the terrain. A round of Grog to the map makers! (on the King [;)]!
