Guys,

Which do you prefer?

1) The new 1776 single turn upgrade (version 1.03)

or

2) The original "phased" game. (older version)

Gary,

I prefer the new format.

It is important to note that even if you upgrade, you can still play the multi-phase style of game. To do that, just select the "manual defensive fire" optional rule along with the "automated defensive fire" optional rule. This will allow you to play the same way you did prior to the upgrade.

It is a bit confusing, and I have brought that to John's attention, so a change in the wording is on the table for consideration.

Remember, both players HAVE to be on the same version to play a PBEM game, regardless of the format they choose. A version 1.02 player CAN NOT play against a person running 1.03.

If you have questions please feel free to post them here, or send me an e-mail.

I am still playing some 1776 "old" style, but my preference is the new style play. I find it more "realistic", with the simultaneous opportunity fire and the move/deploy style play. When you close, you have to anticipate the opportunity fire and the prospect of being disrupted, at the start of melee and losing the opportunity TO melee. It almost forces you to have 2 or more units in your melee stack(s).

The phased version is too much like a chess game.</font id='Arial'></font id=size4>
