Colonial Campaigns Club (CCC)

I have recently been playing a solo FIW 1758 campaign, as the British. I was wondering, why are the Rangers equipped with Rifles? There is very little evidence of the Ranger companies having Rifles. Most Rangers used a cut down Brown Bess Musket or Short Trade Musket very much like the Indians. The rifle was to slow to load or to heavy and cumbersome for forest fighting. I was thinking maybe to go with D type weapon for the Rangers. The rangers used mostly the same weapons as their Indian enemies such as the Small trade musket , tomahawk and scalping knife.

I was wondering everyone's thoughts on this?

I would have to do some digging, but if you think there needs to be a change made in the weapons choice, than I don't see any reason why you shouldn't do so in one of your Mods. I will send this forum post to Rich, maybe he has some insight into why certain choices were made in the game.

Btw - you & Al, if you guys have anything new you want to share with the Club, please do. I still have some stuff form you both I need to sort out & get posted.

Its been many years since I did any research on this war, and if I remember correctly Al did the bulk of the OOB work - so I'll defer to him on why a particular weapon was selected.

With that said, its easy enough to change if you wish...just make sure you rename the OOB file so it doesn't get overwritten by the updates.

I don't remember, sorry. Perhaps to show their skill as marksmen, not necessarily to accurately assign a weapon, but as Rich says, it's an easy change.
