Can play any of the campaigns from Campaign Marengo. Want to try them out since I worked so hard on them! :russianveryhappy:

Options are my usual choices: All ON except for MDP, NMO, PR and MIM

House rules:

1. Skirmishers must remain within 5 hexes of a formed unit from their brigade. This CAN be cavalry or artillery units as well as infantry.

2. No stacking supply wagons to absorb hits or on the flank of units to avoid having them take flank shots. I only call on this one when its rather obvious ;)

3. Colonel Anonymous cannot be used as a scout.

I dont play with Embedded Melee or other rules that are difficult for me to implement.

My first choice would be one of the 1796 campaigns. After that the 1799 campaign would be fun. 1800 is ok too ... just know its a long one. Good battles in all of them. Let the games begin - lets RUMBLE! :frenchcharge: :frenchvive1:

Hi Peters, it would be a pleasure to play with you.
Either campaign would be good. I love long games.

hi Bill..........

could you explain why you do not check NMO on.

I play an opponent who prefers this checked on.

I personally prefer having it off as you do.

I would like to hear what the designer has to say on this.

Clint - in the old days of the Talonsoft games - and early period JTS Nap series - folks were using skirmishers to block the retreat path of a defending unit. It really got old, especially in the days before "No Melee Elimination" was added.

I had John Tiller add in the ability of retreating units to overrun skirmishers on the retreat. I figure if folks are so nit picky about the facings of their units they can know better than the put a skirmisher in the rear hex of a defending formed unit.

Wrong - folks got a bit upset saying they didnt want to take the time to do just that. Enter the NMO rule.

I wont play with it. If folks are going to nitpick and face their cavalry both ways (I do it too) or other micromanagement things then they should be able to remember not to put their skirmishers in the path of a retreating formed unit too. Those same people may still be abusing the old rule - I wont say they are .... the No Melee Elimination Rule does help the blitz issues we used to have (entire brigades disappearing in one turn for instance). But its just gamey to do this in the open. The skirmishers would not stop the retreat of a 800 man battalion in the open. House rule? Oh sure ... like we need more of those lol then you have to enforce them.

Anyway .. hope that helps.
