Does anyone still play the old Battleground games?

I would if I could get them to run on Windows 10. Sadly it wont support even the installer. I loved NIR. It still is my fav. of the BG series including all of the ACW games too.

Bill,

Did you have the Matrix edition? That runs on my Windows 10.

I have put that one on my list if games to buy. While the older series doesn't have the enhancements of the new one I always enjoyed "Kutusov Turns to Fight" as long as folks agree to not surround formed units with skirmisher stacks. It was the one thing I never liked about playing that game series.

I just downloaded the Matrix versions. It was easy and cost under $10.00. I'll play.

Bought the JT Napoleonic Series from Matrix today. Age of Sail loads fine but NIR would not load.

I am using Windows 10. Found out that you have to enable "Direct Play." Here are the instructions:

Open up Windows 10 Control Panel.

Open up Programs and Features.

Look for the little blue and orange shield icon in the top left of the screen. Click on "Turn on Windows features on or off."

When it opens up scroll down to where you see "Legacy Components." Have your Windows 10 disk handy or make sure that the install files are on our drive. Mine were still on the drive. Open up the "Legacy Components" and click the box for "Direct Play." Windows will do its thing ... wait until it finishes. System should not need to reboot.

Game opened up fine for me after that. Nice to see the old games. I probably will pick up the ACW series too.

I haven't played in several years so i am open to any game you are interested in playing and I will take either side. Trying to get the fever back.
