I know Napoleon dictaded his memoirs. Has any one read them?

Are any other memoirs worth reading?

I have not read Napoleon's memoirs, but would be interested in doing so as well.

John,

Years ago I read parts of them. This was the version edited by Somerset du Chair.

I remember them being interesting. Unfortunately, the cost is now very high and I can only find paperback prices withour going to the always costly fine book dealer. Paperback at Amazon runs from $45.00 to $170.00 US.

Sitting on my dusty shelves is three volumes of his memoirs by Madame Junot from 1901. Gold leaf and in very good condition. I am afraid to open and read them....

I have several different titles but only one that is written day to day with entries from 1799 forward. And it is suppose direct translation from Napoleons memoirs. But I cannot say for sure if this is true. It was part of a series of different generals memoirs, but I only have Napoleons. I think Bourriene is the best.

There is a small shop down along the Chesapeake here that has an I think, late 1800's, early 1900's leather bound memoir of Sherman's. One of these days when the misses is out of town I'm gonna drive two and pick those two volumes up...

Thanks, David. I have to admit to having downloaded it and forfeited some of my workday in its reading.

Have you tried the following?
The Diary of a Napoleonic Foot Soldier - Jakob Walter
The Recollection of Rifleman Harris -
The Recollections of Sergeant Morris -
The letters of Private Wheeler 1809-1828 -
All printed by Windrush Press.
