Gentlemen

I cannot recommend the above publication more strongly.
It's subject matter is "Living in Britain through Napoleon's Wars 1793-1815" .

A Christmas present from my son and much appreciated. :D

I've only just started it but I certainly recommend it too. It received good reviews in BBC History magazine too.

Seems interesting.

I was wondering did you "suggest" the book to your son or did he find it by himself?

I have discovered that when family members give me a book as a present it's very often a good surprise because they know I like history and military history (and most particularly they know that I love the Napoleonic era) and:

1) it's often about what I like to read but a bit out of the main subject
2) I know I wouldn't think about looking for it because I am more concentrated on certain subjects.

For example a few years ago my wife gave me a book about the Italian origins of Napoleon ( Napoléon Et Sarzane - Les Origines Italiennes Des Bonaparte by Federico Galantini) or another year Napoleon de la Mythologie à l'histoire (Napoleon from mythology to history) by Natalie Petiteau I would have never thought about about buying those book on my own.

Hi David

He knows my interest but also knows I have perhaps 200 volumes covering the Period so doesn't often think he can add something new. Seeing this book reviewed just prior to Christmas decided it was worth a punt and he was right :)
