Ok - got the update to Direct X and opened up the demo just fine. Questions: 1. Zoom level seemed weak. I expected to be able to zoom into see uniform detail. I used the CTRL + arrow keys to zoom in and got in about as far as it would let me. Able to see units fine but no uniform detail. How do you zoom in closer? 2. Orders - I gave a battery (Polish) an order to move and unlimber. It did its gyrations and unlimbered and then promptly limbered back up and moved away. AI issue with Demo that was fixed in game? Should I just wait for the new Demo and try that out? The 2D map is just awful to use (a zoom in 2D view would be nice) and the 3D is too dark for me to play with. If they want to get me to buy the game it must have a brighter view to the game. Does the battlefield at Montebello in the Demo get any brighter or is that it? (this is not a "shoot down LG/HW" post guys - I am reviewing the game for purchase like I do all games - I buy very few of Matrix Games because of the murkiness problem - I love Field of Glory by them as it is VERY bright and easy to play) If the units would do things that are normal for a Nap formation I would ignore micromanaging the batteries and just let the AI do its thing. However, I doubt that my opponents (Jeff Bardon types) would go with that logic so my play would be limited to just those that macromanage nothing smaller than a brigade. Do most of you play that way or are you "tweakers?" |

Hi Messieurs, I was working on the contrast for the next patch 03b (RC5) Here 3 examples: Last example about the zoom... with the present scale, you can see the details of uniforms, no? I am planning to release a new demo very soon because the feedback on the patch 03b (RC4) is very good. Yet, I have to adjust some behaviors but no really critical. In the next step (version 04), each man will be presented with a 3D model. Scale 1/2 Scale 1/1 I always work on the AI for improving the units behavior. After releasing the version 04 with scale 141 (1 for 1), I'll work on the great tactical AI to improve the quality of the opposant in solo mode. JMM |

I do not own that game, and am not sure when I would ever have the time to try it, but I must say, the graphics shown in this thread are really quite wonderful. A very powerful selling point on its own. My compliments to all of the designers and developers involved. Very nice work indeed! |

How do you zoom down to that level? I was only able to see the troops from a distance. Nothing that close. |

I have to check the demo but I am sure there isn't any difference with the present release for the Zoom. CTRL + up/down arrow OR CTRL + Right Click to adjust the zoom value. JMM - yes, I have tried the CTRL + arrow keys. This is the best zoom in I can get. I have the most recent version of DirectX. NVidia 9800GT |
