Post subject:  Variant Leipzig

Leipzig is a great battle to play but the French are so outnumbered that it usually boils down to WHEN they are defeated rather than IF.

So I am putting together a series of variants that will add in more French forces or alter the strengths of the Allies. Here are some of the variants:

1. Wellington's Defeat - French Forces from Spain - just like it sounds - in 1812 Napoleon personally intervened in Spain while he left the invasion of Russia to his Marechals to handle. Driving Wellington back into Portugal and back to Lisbon where the British embarked for England. The French lose in Russia, the campaign in Germany is fought but Napoleon uses two corps from Spain to reinforce his army in Germany. Look for more French forces (including a cavalry corps of Dragoons/Lancers/Chasseurs/Hussars).

2. Bernadotte's Absence - Bernadotte refuses to aid Blucher. The Russians of Bennigsen also fail to reach the battlefield. The Allies will have to do without a substantial amount of their reinforcements.

3. Reserves from France - A corps of Young Guard arrives from France along with Guard cavalry to reinforce the French army.

4. Schwarzenberg is Late - The Army of Bohemia is later in arriving at Leipzig. Their advance guard is moving to the north as the battle opens and the rest of the army will arrive during the day. 1st Corps arrives on the 18th during the afternoon. Bennigsen does not arrive.

I also will introduce "Clear Weather" versions of Leipzig scenarios. Also 15 min. versions for the above as usual.

The Leipzig operational battle campaign will also have a 15 min. version eventually. All nine campaign scenarios will use a 15 min. turn format.

Comment on the 15 turn format: I am eventually going to change all 15 PDT files to where Supply Wagons use the same MP cost as Artillery on ROAD terrain. I am noticing in my 15 min. games that Wagons lag behind too much.
