I am playing David Andrews in a large Leipzig scenario and I noticed something I had never seen before: even if the weather lines say that infantry cannot fire during certain weather turns during defensive fire they still can.

Wondering if this is something I should report to John Tiller or should we leave it alone? It doesn't seem right. If the muskets were unable to fire because of dampness why for defensive fire too?

Using the Single Phase format and not the Phases.

For Club Games: I prefer the Single Phase mode of play. I prefer to play with the following options OFF:

MDF, VP4LC, NRO, MTD, CMR, PR, MIM, NDM, OMR (ver 4.07)

Interesting. My view is it is a bug, either muskets could, or could not fire, in bad weather.

I don't think that there is enough information in the post - for me as a tester (or worse a scenario designer), I would want to know which exact pdt that is being referred to.

It is no secret that it is far too easy to get a typo to potentially mess up weather lines. I would think that this would need to be eliminated first.

Quote:
1 1813 9 17 13 0 60 26 125 50 0 -10 0 Heavy Rain

No idea if that is the line in question -but it looks like a pdt from a campaign scenario in Leipzig.

Edit: I was not initially going to test the above line out - but I found some time - v 1.05 -edited the weather so that it was only Heavy Rain - it definitely is not allowing fire combat (def or otherwise) by non-artillery units.

Its during the 17th of October ... yes, using the four days 16-19 PDT file for Leipzig.

The weather doesn't allow the phasing player to shoot infantry units. Pretty much that tells me that the PC should not be able to fire back.

I will send John a note with a game file and see what is his response. He might have said in the past that he wanted some sort of defensive response .. but it probably is a bug.

Since this is basically a form of testing - to be exact I never said that anything drew defensive fire - in fact nothing drew defensive fire even when moved adjacent to an opposing unit.

Disclaimer is I did not do this with more than a division or so -in effect a smaller sampling size than the entire scenario but I don't think that I could call it a bug based upon the results that I got.
