It is really frustrating that the "File Selection Dialog" box never tells you the difference between all the various scenarios.

"16-23 April 1809 - Charles opens his offensive against the scattered French-Allied army. His main course of action will be to destroy the enemy's isolated corps and hold key objectives. A major defeat of the French will pull many of the Confederation of the Rhine forces out of the war. All Germany will tremble at the feet of the Austrian Kaiser! Meanwhile Napoleon has plans of his own! Can he take the initiative from his Hapsburg enemies and turn the tables?"

Above is the description for 10 scenario's. Same description.

This is not the only game in the Tiller vault that fails to give any explanation of what is the difference.

All of these games really need a major update or even a complete overhaul and then re-sell them as version 2.

I enjoy playing these games, but they are so dated.

Not sure the differences myself, usually Bill is pretty good to mentioning what they are in the various games. I'll ask him to chime in....

thanks Scott

I wonder why Tiller has never just overhauled these games and re issued them ........ala.........Civ I through VI.

maybe not to that extent, but I think you know what I mean.

It's not like gamers would not welcome that.

I see so many innovations in other wargames. Some seem so simple. Some not so simple. There is room for improvement of this system.

For instance......Civ games have always had the feature, you can move the unit from a to b and it remembers its move till it reaches the destination.

I play allot of large scenario's with lots of units who have to march across the map to contact. Very tedious moving all those guys (even when holding down "alt").

On a more complicated system.........the command and control movement and chain of command features in War in the East make that game so easy to play. Anyone who has not tried WITE is missing out on seeing a really interesting engine in action.

I would think that WITE chain of command system (or something similar) would be perfect for Napoleonic and Civil War Tiller games.

I think you are looking at the campaign scenarios.
The first set of scenarios uses a numbering system up to 21 and are historical battles and variants. After that is a whole bunch more of scenarios that I think are actually the campaign scenarios if you are using the linked campaign engine. So they are repetitive and named according to the branching system, I think.

I agree with you that it would be nice to see an updated Napoleonic Engine. On the flip side, Bill as the scenario designer and Tiller as the developer have updated (adding in new features, fixing scenarios, etc) for more than a decade. Selling it on Tiller's website and calling it 2.0 is simply him offering more of his games through his own company, if I understand correctly. Maybe Rich Hamilton will chime in here in a few days.

The scenario description doesnt show up for the campaign Front End so sure, its a possibility that maybe sometime in the future I might make the scenario description less generic.

Say, does someone have more time to lend me? ROFL :russianveryhappy:

Yes, those scenarios are campaign scenarios. Now I put them in a subfolder and they have an even more generic description like "campaign situation near Ernie's house" :frenchlol:

That's the one where he and his wife get into a battle with the folks next door for playing their rock music too loud during the Lawrence Welk show. :frenchwink:

@Clint Matthews
Go there:
viewforum.php?f=50
post that again.
We need to collect stuff to make it Bill as easy as possible to solve problems.
If the description is the only problem a scenario list could help, there could be noted if that scenario is a battle or a campaign scenario.
