Dale and I are playing a Wagram scenario. 6H Rabb

We are both on JTS Wagram v1.11
I am on Winblows 10 and did not install in the default path but created my own.

we played 2 turns and I started getting errors when trying to voew the replay

message was error viewing replay file or some such

1 - I down load Dale's file
2 - Enter my password
3 - I am prompted to view the replay the replay or not.

Regardless of my choice, I cannot proceed

any thoughts?

In the interests of full disclosure, I am using a graphics upgrade by Volcano man so I get easier to see 2D units

John,

I wonder if it might be me. My original game for Wagram is HPS. I upgraded that to HPS 1.11. Then I copied that to the John Tiller directory, downloaded the JTS update, got a serial number from JTS by proving I owned the HPS version and installed that. Maybe they aren’t compatible like the Civil War games are.

Dale's configuration should be ok..........once you install the JTS version of any game, with serial #, you are good to go.

I do not have win 10, but I recall reading that games should not be installed via the default path.

You should be able to search that query here on this site.

In the end its best to email Rich Hamilton about this. He gets a lot of this kind of email and probably has seen this error before.

Have you tried emailing Rich?

Glad to hear it John.

I'm not sure why it feel out of practice - as we always used to zip turns - but I know a lot of people in the clubs no longer do it. I can not recommend it highly enough - always zip your game files when sending over the web.

If you don't want to buy WinZip or 7Zip, etc. then use the free "Compressed Folders" that comes with windows...

Carry on...

Well usually it's just not necessary, I only have one opponent were I have to pack the files, all other communication worked flawless, so it's surely not the games fault as something happens along the line of communication so that the file ends up damaged.

It's usually easiest to use the compression function of the file manager, but if an extra packer is needed/wanted I recommend 7-Zip(it's for free):

I remember that that is why we zipped in the first place. For some reason zipping went out of style. I prefer to zip as it means that the file cannot be corrupted as easily through transmission. I always zip large game files for this reason.
