The DoR no longer has maneuver games.

All battles are now scored as fights

Way to go, John! Probably the right path to go for the club as it is now.

Looking for Scott Ludwig .. now we can go to battle for full credit! :frenchlol:

Honestly, its not like the club is busting at the seams with members.... lets make this easy on all of us ...

Thanks for helping make this a fine club to be a part of.

When we are already do the Trump with the club, why not:
- make a European Wars Wargame Club out of it
- add games that play within Europe, no matter if strategy or not
- flush the factions down the toilet and let everyone be whatever they want, from the tiny earldom of Count the Money to the Kingdom of Narnia
- that relieves any need to faction webpages and all can do there own Honky Tonk representation of their Lalaland
- forget the OBD crap and just do a ladder with all the statistical crap like they do it in esports
- Forget all medals, tittles etc. and just add generic ranks and nicknames for reaching certain values on the ladder, like "Biggest Looser" for the one that holds the most lost games
- close the board, we all do it over twitter & facebook now

I agree with Christian..
I assume armies do not mean anything going forward... How disappointing...

well Maury

You have been in the club for three years.

Your records show that you have zero games played vs anyone, yet you have a strong opinion on how this club should record results of games played

I am curious why you would be disappointed since you do not play the games here at the club.

Really....
The crazy guys that hijacked and later dropped the club 4 years ago also argued about how many games someone played, as if that can be a benchmark if someone is allowed to say his opinion or how much hat opinion is worth.
Such arguments already show the lack of any reason for these silly actions that damaged the club because it made the club less interesting.
His opinion is as much worth as yours, maybe even more as he cares for the club and you just for your own statistics.

And we just lost a fundamental feature of the club just because you complained about statistics.
When I think of all the work I had put into a new OOB, first a full 1812 OOB then a Borodino only OOB, to change the French OOB so we could have a more international touch and draw more people in. All that work for nothing now that sides do no mean anything.

All I can say is that the ACWGC runs with much higher demands to the membership & it's officers in commanding positions and it fares much better then we do, that anyone can even believe we here would do better if we just do the opposite of what the ACWGC does is just ridiculous.

Last but not least, all should remember how it was 4 years ago when a handful of people though they do the work and so they can dictate how the club is run. And just don't care about the rules we all have agreed to.
That such pillar of the club is just removed and that without any voting within the club is basically the same thing, and it's a pity that we have come to that point again.

in spite of what you think

I think anyone commenting on how we record wins and losses should at the very least play the games.

Anyone one can join this club........some have joined more than once with duplicate membership.

To be an active member, members should participate in some form or another.

Either posting or playing the games.

That guy.........whoever he was, does neither.

Bottom line is the board voted and it is what it is.

As the maneuvers are a part of the club rules Section 5.0 Gaming the Section 7.0 Revision to Club Rules comes into play.
Section 7.0 Revision to Club Rules
Proposed revisions to the NWC Club Rules must first be approved by a simple majority
vote of the Cabinet. Following Cabinet approval, the proposed revision is presented to
the membership by the Club President for their vote.
Upon approval by the majority of
the voting membership, the proposed revision will be officially adopted into the NWC Club Rules. Club-wide votes shall be organized by the Cabinet, but must allow a minimum of two weeks for votes to be received.

And besides this, when did we vote last time for any of the cabinet positions?

Currently there is no formal cabinet

After “the dark times” we ( senior army commanders plus one or 2 others ) decided a less formal approach should be tried in managing the club.

Please lets just move on!!!!

The war room threads are comedy gold. I hope you guys re-read them and laugh without bitterness. There are phpBB polling scripts if you wanna take votes on issues. As a newbie I have no horse in this race but, like Clint says if things were meant to be strategically competitive amongst members than forum participation and HtH logging should probably be required.

I am 57, just had surgery today ... frankly every day I get is a blessing.

Thus while I was initially opposed to the change of rules idea my thing is enjoy the gaming and don't make a big fuss over it.

The way I see this - its a minor thing and the club still functions to facilitate the Napoleonic games.

I remember when I was younger people arguing over wargames. We did in miniatures a lot. In the end it just wasn't worth it.

So enjoy today, be thankful for tomorrow and enjoy your gaming!

Thanks to the guys that keep this club moving forward! Not all of the rules are going to be popular ...

Regarding the future vision of this club:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15880

Fun fact 1:
No post in there complained about maneuvers, and there was a huge list of improvements that would have turned the clubs course onto the road to a brighter future.

Fun fact 2:
Even back then someone wanted to carelessly remove unique features and turn the NWC into a Blitz Wargame Club clone. Nobody jumped for that but a lot defended the features.
