Gentlemen,

I have run into a problem with the NO Detached Melee optional rule. I recently tried to conduct a melee with the NO Detached Melee rule ON.
I had 2 battalions of the same brigade and Division and when I tried to conduct my melee it said one battalion was OK and the other could not melee because of the NO Detached Melee rule. Both battalions were in the same hex and both were well within command radius of both brigade and division commanders. What gives?

Is there any place that explains in detail how the Detached Melee rule works?

I would send your game file to Rich Hamilton and let him take a peek at it. If its a bug he would want to know.

Yo Gentlemen,

I think I now understand how the detached melee works. The determination of detachment is made at the Beginning of the turn so moving commanders into command range will not change the units status of detachment for that turn. I believe this is correct if not let me know.

Thanks to all for your support.

Well, as the unit wouldn't loose its detached status, not until next turn, it seems correct.
