Hi all, I've just joined up.

I have JT Battleground Napoleon games Waterloo, Prelude to Waterloo, and Napoleon in Russia. My questions is: how are they different from JT 's Campaign Waterloo or Napoleon's Russia Campaign games?

Also, I'm interested in getting Wellington's Peninsular Campaign. Is that game different from Bonaparte's Peninsular Campaign?

Thanks for you response.

Well the battleground series is the predecessor of the current Napoleonic Battles series. I do not have the battleground series but I think a few things work differently there compared to the NB series.

Regarding Wellington's Peninsular Campaign, afaik it was designed by the same team that did Bonaparte's Peninsular Campaign so I think there is likely no difference in the general design approach. Of course BPC depicts other action, battles & campaigns on the peninsular then WPC did.
A little help might be to take a look at the designer notes for each title, you can get them here:

In the older Talonsoft Battleground series you had six phases per turn and skirmishers could hold up movement. In the new JTS Napoleonic Battles series you have one single phase/player as an option. The Battleground series had lovely handpainted maps. The newer series used 3D tiles but newer hand drawn maps are now available for select games.

See the product pages for both Peninsular War titles to see the differences in scenarios. Its not an issue of sequential battles although WPW tends to cover the battles later in the Peninsular War. It also has to do with location.

For Club Games: I prefer the Single Phase mode of play. I prefer to play with the following options OFF:

MDF, VP4LC, NRO, MTD, CMR, PR, MIM, NDM, OMR (ver 4.07)

So I'll have to get the newer versions in order to play someone with the newer versions. Alrighty then.
