Gentlemen,

I have really liked the 20 hex daylight visibility range used in the Waterloo update. Is there a way to duplicate this in other games? If so your assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

Modify the weather lines in the PDT files.
One of the number stands for the visibility range, reduce that and you have it.
For a guide to the PDT structure you should check the PDFs that came with the games(or the latest patches), at least the games of Bill Petters should have a PDT guide.

As always, be cautious when messing with .pdt files. It's best to clone a scenario and fiddle in the cloned scenario* That way you have the original at hand. Also, be sure to clear any changes with your opponent, and make sure you are on the same .pdt.

At the end of a pdt file, you'll get this (or a whole block of entries like that)

1 1800 6 9 7 0 100 2 100 100 100 0 0 Dawn/Clear

1= version, don't fiddle with this.
1800= Year
6= month
9= day

7= time (hour) (24 hour clock)
0= minute

All of that info dictates when the weather changes.

100= % chance to change. This is where variable weather can work in.

2= Vis Range. Because this is a dawn turn, you only have 2 hexes of vis. I pulled this out of the Marengo pdt for Casteggio-Montebello pdt, and it actually has a number of changes, opening up vis over a few turns. So, reading from the left, it's the 8th entry that you want to modify.

The rest of the stuff after that is attack mods and the like for that weather condition.

*Fast way to spawn a clone scenario. Open the original in the scenario editor. Save As under a new name. THEN open the .scn file in a text editor and edit the .pdt entry at the top to the name of your modified pdt.
