Post subject:  Passing of Bill Rawkins and His Legacy to Napoleonics

I found out that Bill Rawkins, The History Man website owner and author of many books on the Napoleonic armies, passed back in 2020. Bill was a great guy to communicate with. I had the honor of emailing him on many occasions back through the years about the various uniforms of the armies in our games. Bill's wife also passed away last year shortly before he did.

I am writing this also to note that his website is no longer. His books are not available and that is a shame. I wish I had the funds to buy up the rights to publish them. I have no idea what that would cost and I do hope that his family is considering some sort of continuation.

In emailing with his daughter, she said that the website would be gone by March. That is a done deal. I am going to contact her and ask her if anyone has approached the family about continuing to sell his work. If you ever owned any of Bill's books you know that they were packed with far more uniform and unit information than any Osprey book. He was in the midst of converting the remaining paper books into digital format when he passed.

If I find out anything I will let you know. These books should live on. Just too much good information gone if they are not continued to be published.

RIP Bill!

You guys might want to stay tuned to "The Miniatures Page" website for more on this. Here is a link that might be providing more information in the future:

Also: the copyright on the books is now or was owned by Anschluss Games. Their website is:

https://anschlusswargames.com/

I cannot contact the family at this point. Bill's email address is no more.

It sounds like they have plans to continue publishing the books. The family continues to sell the paper volumes. For now the digital publication is in limbo.
