Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

I want to go ahead and create a NEW OB file for the Battle of Bergen for the RBR game based on Geert's OB found in his book "The Secret Expedition."

Is there anyone here that would like to help playtest the battle scenario? Four would be great, two is sufficient. Experienced players only.

I should be able to finish up the work by June. I will let you guys know when its fixed.

This newer version will be added to the game. It will not replace the original scenario that I developed based on another OB. I still have serious reservations about the Russian strengths. I can't see how the French and Batavian forces will stop such large battalions. The only way I could see to model this is to LOWER the Russian morale due to starvation factors.

Before I start up the OB file I would like to hear on the Russian morale. Thus instead of C morale they would have D morale. I would leave the sizes as per Geert's assessment.

Reminder: The Russians fell to looting once they had taken Bergen and were easily run out of the town after the French-Batavian forces attacked them later in the day. So its not like these are the Russians of 1812.

Well if they when looting in the face of the enemy then I assume there supply situation was beyond bad. Taking their combat moral down one level seems proper too me.

I found out by reading through Geert's account of the battle for the village that the Russians were given a double ration of rum. One was for prior to the battle and the other was for the victory celebration. They drank that second ration when the reached Bergen. Many of the Russians were "Low on Ammo" or out of ammo completely. When the French-Batavian attackers came on during the latter part of the battle the Russians were sent packing. Hermann tried to set up a defense (of which deployment Geert does a good job of describing down to the regiment) but the French-Batavian attack was too much for them. Sounds to me like I need to limit the supply wagons ....

Open for more comments. Would like to hear of another solution if anyone can come up with something better.
