G’day messieurs, just popping in from the campaign trail for a quick brew.

Garson, a round of your cheapest red wine for any who’ll drink it.

I’ve been with the French army now for over a month, maneuvering on the Rhine, with several of my fellow French officers, to great success. The fraus were pretty, in a rather German sort of way, and the beer was tasty and comes in big steins!

Greetings to my corp commander, General P Russo, for introducing me to my new command, and demonstrating how incompetent the Allied troops are at Pirmasens and Nereshiem. Also General de Brigade Ray Bursch and Capitaine Fred Edens for our continuing struggles at Messkirch and Valmy.

The only dark point was an article I found, claiming that I’d abandoned my post in the King of England’s service, and that there’s now a bounty on my head. If captured I’ll be transported to the penal settlement on Norfolk Island, a beautifull place, but home to a rather horrid gaol. Still, not to worry, those cowardly Coalition chaps have so far declined to meet me in open battle, so I seem to be at little risk.

Apparently though, the republic that I signed up to fight for is no more.

Napoleon took a look at all the graft and corruption in Paris, decided he wasn’t getting his fair share, and has taken over the whole show. Not only that, he obviously felt that pillaging France wasn’t enough and is trying to expand the franchise across all of Europe. Must say, he’s a man after my own heart and I admire his ambition.

Now he’s started handing out titles, like francs at a cheap Paris brothel, and has stated “Every French soldier carries a marshal’s baton in his knapsack.” :frenchvive1:

Well I, for one, have always fancied the idea of being a count or a duke, or even a prince or a king, and am determined to start my rapid and inevitable rise up the ranks. Stuff liberty, equality, and fraternity, a Marshals baton for me!

Any coalition officer looking to be a stepping stone in my career, and becoming a footnote in history, look me up in the Opponents Wanted room next door. :frenchcharge:

Some more cheap wine for my good friends garson.

I have several such batons in my bum bag already.

Have you thought of multiplayer? It's a great way to learn, whilst learning humility at the same time. And when you lose, you can blame your partner.

Hi Andy, I've played many, many multiplayer games on a table top, including blind battles/campaigns overseen by a referee, though none on the internet. I always enjoyed those experiences.

If anyone is looking for someone for multiplayer, please keep me in mind. I'd love to give it a go.

As for humility... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg8NPPEms54

The main thing about multiplayer is remembering not to advance turn until the partner has done his bit.

I shall see if I can find a partner. My regular one is in Texas now. So that would be UK; and colonials of the Americas and Terra Australis for bouncing files around.

Thanks Mark,

I've not heard any more from Andy about getting a multiplayer game off the ground. I've got enough games going at the moment that it's not an issue, but I'm always open for one more.

If you would like to see if we can get one going, count me in, and contact Andy to see if we can arrange something.

Dean

As long as I can play the French, I don't mind who I play against.

Suggestions for a game? I'm prepared to buy any title if I don't have it already.

I'm Ok to play with any optional rules.

Any house rules?

If Andy can CC us all on an email, we can start trying to get things underway.

Merci beaucoup!

Pleasure to meet you Sir Mike, and happy to share some wine. Sorry about the quality, it's all I can afford on a sous-lieutenants pay.

The MP game has being going a couple of turns. and I'm involved with several others besides.

That said, I might have space for another game very soon. If so I'll be in touch.

In the meantime, enjoy some more of this cheap wine, I find they all taste the same after the first couple.

I am terribly sorry about the paucity of your wine Sir, but one must suppose that is entirely down to your choosing to fight for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Seems that such lofty minded ideals just don't pay! I suppose you could ask that Petit Corporal of yours for an advance on next years pay, but I suspect he's not the giving kind.

Never mind Old Chap, my mess is well stocked, here's a pint of creme de menthe for your troubles!

And if you do find room on your dance card I'd be happy to oblige you Sir.
