A quick question for anyone knowledgeable about the Russian army in 1799: did this army have pioneers as it advanced on the Mincio in April?

I am going over the variant scenario 066. Battle on the Mincio: Advance of the Russians and I noted that the Russian column in the south does not have any pioneers. I want to know if the Russians had pioneers and how many companies did they have. I would probably give them a strength of 120-150 men ea.

I also plan on distributing the Austrian pioneers across the army more. Right now they enter the map in the far north meaning that they are more or less dedicated to repairing the bridge at Peschia del Garda and cannot repair any bridge damage in the center or south.

I have started a topic on this scenario in the Feedback section under Campaign Marengo. This will be an ongoing topic.

The Austrians may have supplied the Russians with any specialty troops that were needed. There are pioneers in the RBR game for the Russian army at Zurich battles but none in the Marengo game.

That got me to thinking tonight that maybe there is no need for a Russian pioneer. The Austrians probably took care of any bridging needs.

I may just attach some Austrian pioneers to the Russian army. Probably 2-3 companies.

The Russian infantry also may have acted as "Pontoneers" to help build the bridges, that is supplied the manpower. Another option is to just give a couple of the battalions the P - Pioneer ability but I prefer to go with my first idea. Supply Austrian pioneer companies instead.

It would be nice if there was an ability for infantry units to help Pioneers build bridges. For the PzC series you all will remember how the US Airborne helped move the Bailey bridges into position. Similar kind of idea.
