Post subject:  Seeking advice on suitable Multiplayer Games

Gentlemen,

I seek some advice from those officers experienced in Multiplayer games.

One of my officers has suggested a Multiplayer manoeuvre game within the Corps. Firstly, this seems like an excellent idea but, I have some thoughts.

Before I canvass the level of interest, I would like to gain some knowledge for my own benefit.

Am I correct in assuming that the optimum number of players per side is three (CiC commanding reserves and two Wing / Corps commanders)?

Does any one have experience of scenarios that are medium in length and lend themselves to the above personnel and command roles? Several options would be welcome as scenario selection may well depend on the games owned and not everyone has all of the WDS Campaign Games.

Any general "do's" and "don'ts" would be greatly appreciated too.

I've played Waterloo and Leipzig multiplayer. Don't worry to much about game length, the games tend to be over well before the end.

You usually will see 2-3 players per side. Nothing wrong with 4 with one player acting as the CinC issuing just orders either.

Favorite battles to play MP (3 players per side) are:

1. Dresden.
2. Leipzig.
3. Austerlitz.
4. Bautzen.
5. Borodino.
6. Katzbach

There are several operational level battle scenario I put together in the games I worked on that really work nicely for MP play. Jena-Auerstadt full campaign one map scenario. Several from Eylau-Friedland. And many from RBR too.

A medium sized scenario with 2 players per side works well too if you only want to have one corps per player. Dennwitz & Grossbeeren from Leipzig are good ones for newer players. Several of the medium sized battles from NRC work too.

Thanks Bill,

Food for thought. I am leaning towards a scenario from Campaign Leipzig. It all depends however, on the interest shown within the Corps for such an experience and what Campaign series is the most common between those wishing to participate.

Bill,

Which specifically from RBR could you recommend, out of curiosity?

I have looked at your suggestions, Bill and the one that I'm drawn to is from Campaign Leipzig. It is Katzbach 035, 30 turns which is I think adequate for a first foray and has several Corps per side plus reinforcements. I shall shortly seek out comments and potential interest from within the 1er Corps.

Thank you for your advice.
