sometime ago there was an issue raised in regards to the ballooning size of campaign game files in HPS games.

I am in the middle of a Wagram campiagn and the file size
has grown to 14 meg...

Was there any resolution to this ?

No need to contact Rich. The patch for Eckmuhl fixed this but no patch for Wagram has been released yet.

Believe me I have sent something off to John on this. I am asking that we do a short patch for the game to correct this much like we did for Eckmuhl.

If you can hold off on your game you might find that he will have something up soon but please dont hold me to it. I for one was never able to edit the file properly to get rid of the size. Perhaps I will make another stab at it. Send me your file and I will do what I can over the holidays to help you get going again with a smaller file. It might bloat again but by then perhaps a patch will be out.

John,
here's the solution:

Open the cpf file in Wordpad. Scroll down until you start to see lines that start with "16". Set the cursor at the first line of these. Continue to scroll down until you come to the end of the lines that start with "16". Do a Shift click on the last line of these to select all of them. Then do delete. Scroll down a second time and there will be another batch of "16" lines again. Repeat the process. Save the file.

Regards

I have sent John a new version of the game engine that Mr. Tiller sent me that will soon get posted. The engine has a similar fix in it that the Eckmuhl engine had that was just released in November.

Since we know that the Eckmuhl patch worked this new patch for Wagram should also work. John will test it out with his file problem, is ok in sending the same engines (cmp.exe and cp_start.exe) along to his opponent and we should have the patch up soon.

See my separate post on the Wagram patch. I solicit input from you guys on fixes to the scenarios. I also offer up new materials as well.

Ok - the next Wagram patch will include this fix.

As said before also included will be some new materials - new scenarios, sub-maps, etc.
