Name Your Favorite Napoleonic Regiment and why you like it best. Ok - mine is the Pavlov Grenadiers. I painted a Russian 1812 miniature army and one of the units was the Pavlov Grenadiers. In my miniature games they never let me down. Not only that (which is kind of a selfish reason) but I like their history. They are one of the most colorful units in the Russian army not only in uniform but in being distinguished on the battlefield. I always had a passion to russian ARMY heavy cavalry. Spicifically Siberian and Irkoutsk dragoons. Once they were combined, once devided, but until the end of the 1812 the always fought together. wow, this is a pretty darn difficult question.... With Bill mentioning the Pavlov's, it did trigger thinking about truely legendary regiments. And throughout the revolutionary and napoleonic wars, this (pavlov) is one which keeps popping up from Holland to Moscow. I'd go with the III corps in the 1805/07 period. This troop had "something". Other favorites are of course the British rifles, the guard dragoons (french) and Polish outfits. But my true heart goes out to the common line men..... Patric VII Corps |

Of the French it would be Dutch Lancers or the Polish Lancers of the Guard. Of the Allies it would be a toss up between British light infantry and Light battlions of the KGL, though all the KGL units are my favortie.[:D] Col. Hargreaves, 4ème Régiment de Dragons AdN. |

The Guard Polish Lancers - No question about them. After the charge in Spain they were the unit to be in. 95th Rifles would be my choice for the allies - I really love to run them down with cavalry (preferably Lancers[:D]) Brig General Doug Fuller 7e Division/CC II Corp AdN |
