Post subject:  Pioneers & Bridges

I'd really like to see the unrealistic bridge crossing system revamped. At the moment it takes a long time to smash up a 200 or 300 strong bridge down to zero so that it can't be crossed, yet if a pioneer unit comes along and repairs the bridge for just a single turn it's then possible for all troops - including artillery - to cross it.

Instead, it would make far more sense if a bridge needed to be at least 50 strength for infantry (except pioneers & skirmishers), 75 for cavalry and 150 for artillery to make it across. Better still, add in a probability of a bridge collapsing (or weakening) depending on strength and how many troops/guns were attempting to cross ... so if a bridge is say 77 strong a 6 gun battery can risk crossing it but has only 50% chance of success and, even if successful, will automatically weaken the bridge since it wasn't at least 150 points strong.

This is one of those things we want to have added as well, but programming time is very limited these days. It is on the "short list" though, as far as I'm concerned.

I know everyone is tired of hearing that, but it's the truth. We have one programmer (John) for all the different series of games, not to mention that his primary focus for better than the last year has been government work for the Airforce. So, time will tell when we get it...

Rich

"Are you serious ?

Stephane - no, his name is Rich Hamilton. "Serious" used to be a member here but resigned!

[:D][:D]

Pavel - hey, go ahead and poke fun at me! The engine is out of my hands. And good thing too![:o)]

But if we could keep this topic away from engine changes I would appreciate it!! [:p]

Which reminds me, my Camry needs an oil change! See you guys!
