Gentlemen,

Can someone please tell me how to change the drive that the game looks to upon start up (e.g., I installed from my F drive, but want to begin using the G drive)? Short of uninstalling and reinstalling from the new drive how do I make this change?

Secondly, someone posted instructions for making a boot disk for all of your games on one CD. If someone could please send or post instructions (idiot proof, please[:)]) I would appreciate it.

Which game system are you talking about. If it is the BG (Talonsoft series), there is one method. If the HPS system, then another will work.

So, I will give you the BG method, first:PLEASE COPY ALL YOUR BGx.INI FILES TO A SAFE PLACE, FIRST, BEFORE YOU START EDITTING THEM.

Each of the BG games installs a file called BGG.INI or BGN.INI or PTW.INI or BGW.INI, etc. You can usually do a search for them, or try to find them in your /WINNT or /WINDOWS folder. Open them in any text editor, like notepad and you will see several lines of text. Disregard all but the text as below:
[Options]
(Various text)
[Install]
sounds=D:\BGG\
videos=D:\BGG\
cdrom=3

The D: is the CDROM you installed from (Yours should read F:)

Change the drive letter to the drive you want, like G:.

Change the cdrom=3 to the equivalent drive letter, like 3=D; 4=E; 5=F and 6=G.

Then SAVE the file and it should work on drive G!

Continue to change all your Talonsoft INI files for each game.

PLEASE COPY ALL YOUR BGx.INI FILES TO A SAFE PLACE, FIRST, BEFORE YOU START EDITTING THEM.

Ernie,

Thank you very much, sir. Mission accomplished, and everything is working perfectly. Now if I can just figure out how to do the boot disc I'll be set.

For the MASTER CDROM for both HPS and BG games:
Here's instructions on how to make a single cd that will allow you to play all your games from it.

The way I have done it follows. I have 30 games on one disk and it is only taking up 230 MB. Basically there's room for every Tiller title that will be coming out for years to come.

Create a Working directory on your hard drive.
Drag and drop all of your game folders into it.
Make sure each game folder is named EXACTLY the way it is shows on the cd (Caps, abbreviations, spacing, etc.)
Go into each folder and delete all .bmp .doc .hlp .wav files.
I have left the sub-directories in place, but I'm not convinced you need them. (YOU CAN LEAVE THE SUB-FOLDERS IF YOU WANT TO)
Then burn your cd. (DO NOT burn the temp working folder.)Make sure all the game folders are at the root of the CD, don't grab the working directory with them inside of it, as that won't work.

You can keep the working folder intact once you are done, that way when a new game comes out you just have to repeat the process for that one title and can then burn a new cdrom to use.

The above also works for ALL BG titles.

It's wonderful not to have to swap CD's anymore!!
