It looks to me like a light Panzerkampfwagen II rather than III. It looks small and possibly has the main cannon offset, with the machine gun next to it and obscured by the sign, whereas III had a bigger gun in central position. The shape of the turret looks like II too and the wheel just showing looks relatively big, whereas III had smaller wheels. I could be wrong though. What do the real anoraks think?[:D]

I'm pretty sure thats a Pzkw II with the 20mm on the left and the machingun on the right. Is this a photoshop? I can't imagine it actually running.

It's a PzII for sure. PzIII has a larger caliber gun, even though it's short too and it's positioned at the centre of the front turret.

and what a PzII is doing there ?
it is a very clear photo, not an old WWII picture with photoshop effects.
Could it be a WWII vestige in Irak or what ?
a lot of early german WWII tanks were used in middle east.
Syria had Pz IV (and even french renault R35), maybe Irak received german weaponry

The original picture was taken from The Panzer Museum in Munster, Germany.

Stephane

It is almost certainly a faked picture.

The image of the tank, probably from some European outdoor museum and the superimposed, mock-up of a road sign.

It is worth taking a look at the other pictures at Worth1000.com http://www.worth1000.com, there are some briliant works of art there on a whole range of subjects.

Suggest check ot heartache under the Emotions 6 category.

Thanks for providing the link to these. I would never have got to see them otherwise

Regards

Mark

Take a look at that page: http://members.tripod.com/domgoh/panzer.htm
It has the exact same picture before the road sign wad added.

Well spotted Voltigeur !

How did you manage to find the original tank image ?

My part was easy because of the caption on the picture, but to find the original of the tank - what a coup !!
