There once was a time in the NWC, when if you insulted a French officer, you could almost certainly expect a challenge in defense of the Emperor's honor or some other rubbish -- but the French army THEN was made of fighting men.

Over the last several days I have made fun of Marachals, ducs, comptes, princesses, and other assorted barons and have yet to hear a peep from any of the French royalty. Conclusion? There is no fight left in the Grande Armee. [:(]

Ah, to heck with it. [xx(] I'll just go back to my drink and retire to my own farm in the Welsh countryside. At least there my horse can get some good grass. This stubble on the continent is not fit for English livestock.

Sir Muddy, while I have a full plate(to include real life) I will meet ya in a campaign in Russia, We met once before at a little Belgium hamlet as I recall. So if that stiff English neck of yours will allow you to pick up the gaunlet at your feet, send a courier on over.

Though I came probably on the extreme tail end of those days...the French just lack such a luster. I mean it is like someone beat the perfume out of 'em. You lazy ladies in waiting...to fat you have to be rolled out the door. [:D][:D]

Well, well... Maréchal Malone; why look at you... a compte and a duc. Yes, Belgium... I can still hear your pleas for mercy echoing through the chateau. [:0] I would gladly meet you again, but not in Russia. I am presently not able to travel the distance. [:(] Perhaps another field, somewhere in Austrian perhaps? Or should we wait for "new fields" as suggested by Gen. Hamilton?

Sir Muddy,

If you are finished licking your wounds from our previous encounters, I would be glad to humble you again. I have Eckmuhl, all of the BG games, and some NIR Project. I would prefer BG Twin Battles, Unleashed as I have been playing Eckmuhl almost exclusively of late, but if you have another suggestion that would be fine. The French Middle Guard Cavalry which I now have the honor to command should be more than sufficient for the British Household Cavalry -- by the way, where did you ever find a new horse after losing all of our cavalry at Waterloo?

GdD Lambert? There you go again, bringing up ancient history of a lopsided battle when only recently we fought to a bloody draw in a full Eckmuhl Campaign. I trust you are applying the lessons I taught you to your new campaigns. Twin Battles? I am sorry sir, that will have to wait. I have retired my Talonsoft titles and have taken up the HPS gauntlet. But perhaps in a very short while there will be another opportunity.

Conclusion? That you are a bit too loud for your own good. The phrase "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" does come to mind.

Sit. Have a beer. It will fortify you as you continue your empty tirades against your betters.

Sir Muddy,

Funny I seem to remember driving you from the field at Eckmuhl in rather a rout -- although I did in fact surrender the field in Sacille, I wouldn't exactly call it a draw.

If it must be Eckmuhl, pick your poison.
