The PBEM file size problem that was noticed (and hopefully fixed) in CAMPAIGN WAGRAM also occurs in RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN.

Bill !!!! Rich !!!!
this one is for you
We need a patch ASAP because for the moment my russian campaign files are "only" 2Mo big, but they are increasing in size every turn !!!

Yours
Stephane

Gents:

This problem of file size "blow up" generally occurs when the two players are not using the same version. The problem was corrected in the latest patches for all games but you must be certain that you are both using the latest patch. I know this was a problem in campaign games but I didn't think it occurred in single battles.

To fix the file problem manually, you can open the .cpf file with notepad and delete all the lines beginning with the number "16". There can be thousands of these in the corrupted file. Fortunately, you can place the cursor at the beginning of a line and sroll down, hold the shift key and click at the end of a line. This should highlight all the lines of text to be deleted. Hit the delete key. The "16" lines are located before the middle section of code and after the middle section of code. Be sure to clean them all.

Stéphane,

I also read somewhere that the file size problem could occur when you did not donate to the NWC Club (using Paypal)...[;)]

Stephane,

Please send me a copy of the game file to the Support account. I've got a patch from John that I am testing now...should be able to have an "official" fix out in a few days.

Did anyone note this happening to them in years past?

This issue seems to have cropped up as of this year. Or did I miss a note on this.

Rich? Any support emails on this after Wagram came out back in 2001 winter?

This looks like something that has happened due to a fix in the code from the past.

Otherwise the engine is bug free!

Sorry that I didnt mention that NRC didnt have this fix. Eckmuhl and then Wagram was patched to correct this. NRC next!

Rich
File sent to support
I placed a termination bid for the game, then went to next campaign battle
it helped reduce file size
but ... it will not last ...
