Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

Okay, completely non scientific and all that, but to indulge my curiousity. Once CW is out, what is the next game you would like to see? Assume that the game is limited to a single campaign, though it may have multiple battles (the way Wagram has both Aspern-Essling and Wagram)


My own choice would be Spring 1813, Lutzen-Bautzen. I've been interested in Lutzen ever since they had a really interesting game in the old Wargamer mag.

I agree with Gary on this one. I have been fascinated with Lutzen and Bautzen since reading a few books on them a few years ago. I tend to prefer battles and campaigns that have more manouver but something about the head on slugfests of those two battles interests me.

I am looking forward to Waterloo. I played BGW a lot vs. the AI but only once in a custom game vs. a person and I only played Ligny once, so I am not burned out on 1815.

After that, it is a toss up between 1814, Dresden/Leipzig (and all of the medium sized battles in those campaigns) Italian or Peninsula Campaigns. I would really enjoy a 1814 campaign and the style of campaign tree Bill is making woudl fit it well.

Definitely 1806/07 or 1813/14 (or both!). But that's just the Prussian in me. [^]

Out of sheer curiosity, but we'll never get it of course (who but me would buy it?)--Egypt 1798-1801.

Of course Peninsula would be a hit. And I wouldn't mind the Rhine frontier in the 1790s. The Swiss campaign. Ah well, there's still a lot to look forward too. [8D]

I would like to see Attilla's campaign of 451 - 452..... Oops wrong period.[:p]

Though I would also like to see the Peninsula war and The campaign of Dresden & Leipzig, covering the later part of the 1813 campaign.

Depending on how you dispatch troops, you have Napoleon fighting the Anglo allieds at Albuera while at the same time, Soult would deal with Blücher at Bautzen...[:I]

My preferences would be the Peninsula. Lots of differnet units and situations. A well organized campaign could show everything from the French Invasion to the Britsh invasion of South France.

A single campaign file covering all of that??? That would be a monsterous undertaking - almost the death of who ever did it! [B)][V] My 1758 Campaign for FIW took me months to complete and it only covers a few months and up to 9 linked battles.

A single title could be made to do it however, with multiple campaign files covering various aspects of the conflict. There's a lot of seiges in that theater though, which are not particularly interesting to play...

I tend to agree with Rich. Take the 1809 campaign, a rather brief and pretty linear operation, and still it made for two perfectly good campaign games with a lot of branches. The Spanish War is way too huge to be covered in a single title.
