The game system has come quite a distance since Eckmuhl came out.

The new rules and the bigger maps are all very nice.

In particular, I was really surprised with the Fire results showing up in white above the target instead of in a pop up window. I prefer playing in 2D and I found it a nice change.

I hope that improvements will continue to be made. [:)]

One area that I'd like to make a suggestion about is to make the music more side specific. It would help much more to get into the mood while playing this game.

I'd like to be able to hear just French music when I play the French side. --Or conversely, just hear British & Prussian music while I play an Allied side.

Hearing "Rule Britannia" when playing the French side kind of rubs against "the experience."

Cheers,

Rick

On second thought, hearing all the music together one after another promotes an all-togetherness that wouldn't happen otherwise.

Either way, it is ok with me, I guess.

Hi Rick,

You can swap the files out in the \Music sub-directory and the program will automatically rotate through what ever is in there. You can put your own stuff in as well, as long as it is in a .wav file format.

Yes, I highly advise you to put polka music in place of the French marches!! [:D]

It gives the marching a nice German touch!

Hey. Now, why didn't I think of that?

Thanks for the idea Bill. [:D]

Bill,

I have to thank you for your wonderful suggestion. You've opened up a new world to me. I learned all about ripping CDs yesterday and with a utility that converts .mp3 files to .wav files, I was all set.

Let me see. I couldn't find my Frankie Yankovich CDs, so I converted "Stairway to Heaven." That'll play when the French win. [;)]

But seriously, I had some great French march music recordings (made by an actual French marching band) that I converted. Actually, all of the French music ended up being swapped out as they sounded too synthesized.

I currently have Mario Vallee's Napoleonic CD (70+ minutes of authentic Napoleonic march music) enroute and it'll get onto my HD as soon as it arrives. I highly recommend it.

Thanks again,
