Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

I recently started one NIR: Kutuzov Turns to Fight and I noticed something interesting: althoug advantage was clearly set to zero it appeared that French lost 300 men and 3 guns while Russian suffered 1250 men and 3 guns in just 3 turns of play. Is it normal to have such situation in this scenario (at least in the beginning)?

Please note that I'm quite confident that battle file has not been altered in any way.

Are you and your opponment using the New Settings Patch ?

These were updates made to the NIR games by some Russian members of the club. I cannot remember the link offhand.. Sorry

Next... Horrific losses in the NIR games are almost a given. I have yet to play any NIR scenario that did not entail at least 40% casualty rates on my side.

We do not use new settings. However, my opponent was quite upset with his loss rate. I just wondered is there anything we should be concerned for. I mean, is there any situation known that battle file might be corrupted in way that it prefers one side only (???)

I am the opponent.

I was suspicious at first about the initial game setting because the Russian guns in the Fleches are rarely hitting while the French cannon are regularly hitting.

This is the total opposite of all my previous experiences as both the Russian and French player.

However, I think it is just the statistical result of playing so many times. Sooner or later "Lady Luck" will leave you standing alone at the alter.

I have rearmed all my troops with Moscow pikes and if a formed French infantry unit ventures to close I will roll my cannon down onto them causing numerous crush injuries![8D]
