Ok.. tried it, it's cute but I would rather not use it ( assuming my opponent is in agreement )

How can I turn off weather effects ?

Use a pdt file that doesn't have it.

If the two scenarios being played use different PDT files then you can.

An easy method would be to make a copy of the original pdt file, save it under another name first, then erase all the weather lines (at the bottom, rather obvious) in a text editor ... WordPad or NotePad.

Then to play a game with the non-weather pdt file you can by following the procedure outline at this site ....

Another example of how flexible John's engines really are.

Without weather!!!

I find it hard to understand why someone would want to play without weather after all the time we've been waiting for it to get incorporated into the game. I don't feel weather should really be a matter of "taste" and that players should decide to ignore the weather conditions - anyway, I suspect there are variant scenarios with different weather conditions for most scenarios. Napoleon would have preferred not to have had "weather" at Waterloo, but he didn't exactly have much choice in the matter!

I'm not saying the current weather system is perfect - of course there's still room for some improvements - but I'm really glad we've finally got weather and that it's possible to alter the weather conditions in the pdt when designing a scenario. It's a really big improvement to the game engine and I'm looking forward to seeing it also in the EAW & ACW series as well.

Three cheers for weather!
