Yesterday was the anniversary of Borodino. I am currently reading Moscow 1812 by Adam Zamoyski and he gives a good account of that bloodbath. Many a brave soul on both sides lost their life that day.

One can't help but wonder what all those braves souls, be they French, Westphalian, Polish, Portuguese, Saxon, Italian, etc, really might have been thinking, about the little Corsican visiting Moscow, as they marched into the Russian guns. At least the Russian soldiers had knowledge that they were defending Rhodina.
