As a member of the cabinet, I have taken it upon myself to make this post on the current state of things.

In the wake of the resignation, there has been much speculation and talk of anarchy and the like. This is normal, natural and to be expected. The recent election results had left some divisions within the club, less because of the results than because the format for determining the winner was unclear in the minds of many members. Following so closely on the heels of that event, the departure of Bill as president naturally causes us to pause and wonder.

In my opinion, this club is not about one person or one election result. It is a living entity that depends on all members. More importantly, we have an administrative body that is in place and will carry on supporting the NWC's primary mission. That mission is to play games, celebrate the history of the period and provide a place for enthusiasts of all variations to enjoy the hobby.

The members of the cabinet have been discussing the course of action we are going to take regarding the post of president and the procedures for handling future votes. Although we have not reached a consensus on all issues, we are continuing to discuss them and will make the decisions known in the near future.

I will not be so grandiose as to look at this as a watershed moment, but I will say that there are issues of interest to the club beyond the position of president. With new titles in the offing and games being available from strategic to our original tactical simulations, we have decisions to make about the future of the club. What games interest the members? Can they be incorporated into the club and how? There is an auto-system in the works, that must be refined and reviewed by the club to ensure that it meets our needs and still preserves the appropriate autonomy of the various armies.

These are decisions that require careful consideration and thought prior to opening them up to the club at large for comment or a vote, depending on the nature of the issue discussed. They will not be answered all at once, but trust me that they will be addressed in due time.

For now, play games; enjoy yourselves. The club is in no danger and the temporary appearance of chaos is just that, a temporary, fleeting moment.

Regards,
Jeff

Hear! Hear! Well said, Jeff.

"and the temporary appearance of chaos is just that, a temporary, fleeting moment." Kind of like my Major Victory chances whenever I play. [:D]

Absolutley bang on Jeff, I wish I has said that myself.......no I really do!![:)]
This is still a great club, we are all here with the same intent, I believe fully that we ALL have more in common than divides us. I say we draw a complete line through the last events and do what we do best. I love being in this club, playing having the great laugh with your opponents, so lets all get on with doing just that.
However could I just say
"But I'm a superstitious man. And if some unlucky accident should befall this club - If it should get shot in the head by a police officer, or if it should hang itself in its jail cell - or if its struck by a bolt of lightning, them I'm going to blame some of the people in this room, and that I do not forgive. But, that aside, let me say that I swear, on the souls of my grandchildren, that I will not be the one to break the peace we've made here today."[:D]
