Has anyone ever written up a history of the NWC?

Seem to remember that something was put in one of the Jones-Letters, er newsletters some time back.

Gee Bill, you'd be perfect for that task as you've seen it all happen.

There's some great stuff in those old newsletters. Who remembers the exploits of Ens. the Hon. Parsifal St. John Cheggwidden Frobisher of the Coldstream Guards, the 23rd Royal Artillery Contagion and Anthrax Battery and the King’s Own Auxiliary Montgolfier Reconaissance Battalion - what a guy[:D], or some real characters like Wattie and Flynn and others? And some useful records of promotions, medals etc for those interested in their own history in the club. It seems that I joined (late Dec 1998) about 8 months after the founding of the club. I must be building up a reasonable pension by now[:D]

Let me look over the newsletter. I have something in mind but it will take more than me, that's for sure. I would need folks from each army to help me out as well as the Cabinet members, past and present to put in their two pence worth.

More later after I read the newsletter.

Ok - I will give some input on the NWC history but cannot take on the task of coordinator or whatever. I will give my input as to what I have seen take place, how the armies I worked with started and grew and so on and leave others to take it from there.

My memory is not so good and thus I will have to get some help from guys like Mike Gjerde and Dermot Quigley, Gary M., etc.

As for each army - we need guys that would work together to put a history of their army up. Also the RMA, Ecole de Mars, etc. as well as something on the RMA Library which is a great source of information.

Ken could say something on the newsletter.

As for overall project coordination - this lies in the realm of the Cabinet. As a non-member I leave it to you guys as to how you want to put it to them. For me - I will send them my input after I have gotten my facts correctly. Will try and do up a chronology as well based on the newsletters, threads on boards, etc.

Tournaments - Ken again and anyone else that ran them. List the top guys that finished or just the winner and runner up. But again, wont mandate anything here. Something on the tournies would be nice.

As to the rest? Some of you guys that have been around like Ruben Lopez have more information to provide for your own armies. Far be it from me to do a write up on the French or Anglo-Allied army.

This IS a fun project and the Cabinet should appoint someone as official historian or add it to their duties or whatever so that we keep a coherent record of our history going and dont lose it.

Nice idea, give me a shout Bill if you need any further info of when the ADR / EDM where formed and how they came about. Also where many of the (fictional French medals came from:)

I offer up my services, web skills, and webspace whatever is needed for this task. I'll put my hat in the running for such a thing if the Cabinet permits.

If not I will do my part to pull Prussia's stuff together into it.

Well like I said - I cant coordinate this effort. Just dont have the time.

I can provide my input into how the club got started, etc.

Anything you guys can provide will be up to someone that orchestrates the effort. In other words we need a leader and I cant do it.
