Promoting my old army. There is no better way to fight Napoleon than with the Austrians. Facts:

1. They fought Napoleon more often than any other army in the period.

2. They lost more land than any other kingdom of the period too! [:D]

3. Bill Peterson used to be an Austrian. That must mean something to someone out there!

4. The Prussians are jealous of our greatness.

5. The British stayed away from Napoleon. Scared of him I guess. We met him head on and lived to tell the tale!

6. Austria is great Cossack fodder! As a member of the army your goal would be to win enough battles to keep the Russians from "helping" us win!

7. Al Amos used to be in the Austrian army! That must amount to something to someone somewhere!

8. Gary McClellan is a great guy! If you join the Austrian army you will get his blessing on your career!

9. Its one of the youngest armies in the club. But then again we havent seen a new army in over 12 years so who's counting! [:p]

10. And finally, if you dont join the Austrian army I will continue to reply to this thread until you do!!! Ok - just kidding! [:o)]

Best food, best canes, great supply system, slow volksmarches through lovely scenary. What more could you want out of an army.

If you join the French army remember, you have to forage for ALL of your meals. Napoleon was too cheap to supply his future baton carriers with a cafeteria! Now what kind of army is that?[8D]

Seems like the main feature is that they loose, and only win when helped by others. Hmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!! [:D]

Doesn't "helped by others" strike you as a valid description of Aspern-Essling, of all battles? [;)]

Yeah, and the Allies never would have won in 1813 and 1814 if it hadnt been for the Austrians! So there! [:p]

With the Anglo-Allies and Prussians almost messing it up in those fields near Brussels its a good thing that some 180,000 Austrians were heading their way!

We Austrians like the good food in France. It was our one reason for coming to the aid of the Allied cause!

Yeah ok Russia pulled a big bulk at Liepzig and oh yes Liepzig proper was taken by Prussian Landwehr and it was us under our great GFM that pressed the sluggish Allies, ie YOU, to get rid of the little rascal and we did it again in 1815. I would say we did quite well in Belgium with the British, our very trusty and close Allies thank you very much...[:D][}:)][:p]

Mssrs.,

Please allow me to add my Top Ten reasons for joining the Austrian Army[:o)]:

1) You can have a uniform of any color you want so long as it is white;

2) Vienna offers the finest coffee and croissants in Europe;

3) You are encouraged to lead your troops from a safe distance to the rear;

4) All campaigns are agreeably short-lived;

5) You don't need to learn elaborate tactical evolutions as an infantry commander, you simply maneuver your bns en masse;

6) As a cavalry commander you do not need to trouble yourself with directing more than a single regt in a charge;

7) You do not need to trouble yourself with learning light infantry tactics;

8) Your promotion to higher rank will not be troubled by competition from upstart commoners;

9) Victory on the field of battle is not a prerequisite to promotion;

and, best of all (Drum roll please)

10) Prince Metternich will recoup your battlefield losses at the Congress of Vienna[:D]

Regards,

Paco

10) Prince Metternich will recoup your battlefield losses at the Congress of Vienna\

You know, I've always thought that a lot of bloodshed could have been avoided had they let Metternich and Talleyrand decide the fate of Europe over a chess match.

Or perhaps a game of Campaign Eckmuhl [:D]
