Altenberg is one possible campaign choice at the outset of the full 1813 campaign.

I am unconvinced this is winnable as the French. They start on a major defeat so have to attack superior numbers on ground suited for defence. A major defeat means the campaign is over.

Has anyone else played this one as French and managed even a minor defeat?

Ed and I are playing the other choice, where the Allies (me) choose defense (mistake?) and the French attack in the north. Looks like a better chance to the French.

I think Ed is going to spank me. He is a little better player than I am and the map has a lot of open space, which can be bad for low quality French infantry advancing but also be for the thin Coalition line..

But your are in defence with same quantity, more cavalry and artillery behind protection!!!!!
Your left is protected by river and the French centre is empty. How could you be beating????

The Quantity is not the same. By the middle of the battle I will be heavily outnumbered (especially in infantry) and I think the French have more cavalry than at the battle of Lutzen. Also, the French have many options to avoid my dug in positions. It will be a hard battle but hardly easy for the Coalition. I am six turns in and Ed has sent his Guard to the Center, on the Right of Eugene's army.

This scenario(s) set was changed in the last update. I will check it again to be sure that the French have a better chance at victory.
